In the Turret With Iron 7

By Command Sgt. Maj. Lance P. Lehr, 1st AD and Fort Bliss Command Sergeant Major:

I will be honest, the way Soldiers receive information these days has changed a lot since I enlisted in the Army nearly 30 years ago. Communication today seems predominantly driven by smart phones, text messages and social media apps like Facebook and Twitter. In order for old-school leaders like me to keep up with the Army’s new generation, we have to use current technology and adapt our communication strategies.

As the division command sergeant major, it’s important to open the lines of communication with the troops, leaders and families here at Fort Bliss. To accomplish that mission, I logged on and created “In the Turret With Iron 7,” the official Facebook page of the 1st Armored Division CSM.

This avenue of approach is an excellent way for me to address key issues and share information directly with our troops while allowing YOU – the Soldiers and families – to ask questions and voice your concerns.

I also encourage leaders to use this page as a professional resource. Leader development is a cornerstone of career progression and I am passionate about sharing the knowledge I’ve learned throughout my own career. So leaders, please use this page as a forum to ask professional or developmental questions – that’s what I’m here for.

The link below will help you navigate to “In the Turret With Iron 7,” where you’ll find recent posts and photos of my time visiting with Soldiers. And because the page is being built from the ground-up, new updates, photos, and historical information will be added frequently. While you’re there, be sure to help grow our network by liking and sharing “In the Turret With Iron 7” with your battle buddies and friends.
